Grant
I play Keyboard/Piano for Wise Intentions, and I'm also the eldest brother. I have been playing since I was 13, having been inspired by my dad. After a slow start, I began to play more and more and I haven’t looked back since.

I really enjoy playing the keyboard, it’s diverse and interesting; there’s just so much you can do. Along with keyboard, I also sing backing vocals to give our music more impact on the powerful parts of the songs. At the moment, I also manage a lot of the technical aspects of the band, taking care of the sound engineering with our own home recordings and live performances, creating and maintaining this website, or sorting out any computer troubleshooting or maintenance.

When we gig it's always a brilliant experience, no matter what the venue. The audience are always really supportive and have a great time. When we play covers, more often than not, the song doesn’t actually have a keyboard or piano part, which allows me to enhance the arrangement, whilst maintaining the essence of the original. I also help with the song writing and we all enjoy arranging our own songs together, which requires lots of teamwork.

Over the years my keyboard play style has constantly evolved; I remember making it a goal of mine to make up a backing to a song, now it's second nature, as I'm always creating new rhythms and different backing parts for our many songs. I find the best way to develop playing is to take a song that really pushes your ability, and keep at it. Not only will you end up being able to play a great song by the end of it, but you’ll have also learned some new techniques along the way.

Blake
I'm the drummer for Wise Intentions, and also the middle brother. I've been playing the drums since I was 13, and now can’t imagine myself without them!

When composing the drum part to a song, I try to go with the flow of the music and follow my instincts as to what sound I should go for. I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say that it is this complete freedom of writing your own music that gives you such an amazing, accomplished feeling when listening to the end result.

Of course, we play covers as well, which is an entirely different experience since you are playing songs that you, and a lot of other people, know and love. You really get into the song, and the energy of the music carries itself through from the original which makes the song transform into our own style.

Having said that, we try not to change the cover at all as best we can, since the way it was originally written is the way it should stay, because that was the way it was intended to be heard. When playing them, we make sure to play the parts which are most recognisable, and are most loved. Playing these covers helps me understand how these songs sound so great, which then helps me make our own songs even better.

Aside from playing the music, I also take care of any designing and images for the band. With input from everyone involved, and taking into consideration all ideas, I create the imagery for almost everything that you can see to do with the band. That includes the website design, covers for any album or singles we produce, and even posters and business cards we use to advertise ourselves. I take great enjoyment and pride in doing this, and revel in experimenting with any images or photographs that come my way.

Scott
I’m the guitarist and lead vocalist of the band and also the youngest brother. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember and began playing the guitar when I was 9; having music lessons at my primary school. Despite a slow start, as time went by I soon discovered the satisfaction and enjoyment I could find through playing music.

Realising at the time that my brothers and I shared a love for music, our band began its life with covers, but as we progressed musically we then began to write and perform our own material. Our song topics vary widely; from narrating a persona, sharing past experiences, or a more abstract approach using metaphors and exaggeration to express our views on a situation. I believe that our original material’s lyrics are new in the way that our youthfulness gives us a unique perspective of certain situations in life; one that not many can easily share with the world at our age.

Though our own songs are very important to us, so are covers. Playing music written by artists with years of experience helps develop us musically and personally, while also giving the incentive to become better at what we do. Covers are perfect for inspiring and teaching, and play a key role in keeping the band together by letting us enjoy ourselves as we play; an essential part of working in a team.
